The shot of this Golden-naped Barbet (Megalaima pulcherrima) was taken at at Kinabalu Park. Feeding on a fruiting tree near the Park headquaters, which is not a very common sight. Normallly found in canopy of tall montane forest, forest edge around 1,000-2000m.
Listed and evaluated in 2007 by IUCN Red List Category as "Least Concern". (evaluated by BirdLife International - the official Red List Authority for birds for IUCN).
Confined to the North Borneo Mountains, stretched from Mt. Kinabalu and Trus Madi, south to Murud and Mulu, the Golden-naped Barbet is endemic to Borneo.
A green barbet with bluish head. Forehead,crown, upper nape and throat blue. Yellowish green on sides of head and an orange-yellow nape collar. Size of bird is 20cm.
